The clients had outgrown and grown weary of their cramped 1,800-square-foot residence. In addition, they needed more room to prepare for and host family gatherings, both indoors and out.
The architect proposed a bold transformation and departure from the existing home’s design, creating a new image and a new house compared to the old one. The architectural solution introduced 775 sq. ft. of new interior space, including a completely remodeled and expanded kitchen, bathrooms, and master suite, as well as a new story-and-a-half entry foyer. A new 175 sq. ft. exterior porch was also added.
The transformation was accomplished by extending the front facade by approximately 20 feet, reconfiguring the interior spaces, centering the exterior elevation on the new entry foyer, and introducing new finishes in stone-masonry, heavy timber, and custom millwork.
